Somaly Mam's Story
At 12, Somaly Mam was sold to a Cambodian brothel and forced into a life of prostitution. A decade later, after marrying a French aid worker, she could have made a new life for herself in France. Instead she chose to return to Cambodia and set up a charity to help girls (some as young as six ) caught up in the sex slave trade.
AFESIP ( a French acronym for Acting for Women in Distressing Circumstances) provides shelter for these girls, as well as training them with marketable skills like hairdressing and sewing.
Visit AFESIP's new website to read Angelina Jolie's inspiring story about Somaly and find out about AFESIP's sewing training program.
From every Clothesline pattern pack sold, 10% of the price is donated to this wonderful charity. Yes, it really is the only payment we love to make!
